PREVENTION AND EARLY INTERVENTION

ABOUT US

ReDiscover’s Adult Suicide Prevention Program helps to reduce suicides and suicide attempts in adults ages 25 and older by focusing on prevention and early intervention. The initiative has an emphasis on those at higher risk for suicide, including adults:

  • with suicidal ideation and/or previously attempted suicide
  • who identify as lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer or questioning, intersex, asexual, or any member of the LGBTQ+ community.

How Does the Program Work?

Referral: At the request of a hospital, college, or in response to a crisis call, the Show Me Zero Suicide team is contacted.

Action: With permission from the client, the Suicide Prevention Community Support Specialist will immediately stabilize the client and then perform an assessment.

Care: The client will be provided with short term intensive Community Support services and an ongoing bridge to long term treatment

Program Goals

  • Improve the system of care for suicidal adults who use hospital emergency departments, in-patient psychiatric facilities, and/or crisis hotlines.
  • Improve the capacity of the college systems to identify, respond, and refer adults at risk of suicide.
  • Strengthen prevention efforts for at-risk populations by educating and collaborating with adult serving organizations.

Who We Serve:

The Suicide Prevention program serves adults ages 25 and up, residing in Jackson or Cass County, who struggle with suicidal thoughts and/or behaviors.
