PROVIDING ON-SITE MENTAL HEALTH SERVICES AT SCHOOLS IN EASTERN JACKSON COUNTY
ReDiscover’s School-Based Services work with schools in Eastern Jackson County to provide children with mental health services on-site. Each clinician in the School Based program has an office at their assigned school and is seen as both school staff and ReDiscover staff. They serve a caseload of students and provide case management, therapy, and crisis services within the school building.
A huge barrier to treatment for children often lies in transportation and scheduling conflicts with their parent/caretaker’s day. Providing these services within the client’s school day eliminates this barrier and also allows the client to receive services one or more days a week which would typically be difficult for families to accommodate in an outpatient setting.
If a client does not attend a school with a school-based
clinician on-site, they can be served by our community- based clinicians within additional Children’s Services programs offered at ReDiscover.
In addition to helping the children, the School Based program provides school faculty and staff with training on how to identify and handle mental health concerns, facilitates small groups, teaches mental health units in class, etc. Our clinicians are key members of the school’s mental health meetings and serve as an advocate for students’ needs.
Who We Serve:
We have clinicians assigned to various schools within Eastern Jackson County. In order to be eligible for School Based services, they would need to attend a school with an assigned clinician, be between ages 6-17, and have insurance.
